Dr Tanveer Ahmed is a psychiatrist and opinion columnist for the Sydney Morning Herald. He is a former SBS television journalist who has covered a broad range of foreign affairs and business stories. He has a unique range of Board, management and political experience.
He sits on the Advertising Standards Board, the national regulatory body for the advertising industry. He is a Governor of the Smith Family. He is also a former national representative for junior doctors within the Australian Medical Association.
He is a regular commentator on social, economic and political matters throughout the entire spectrum of media and has appeared on a range of television and radio programs, including Channel 7’s Sunrise, Channel 9’ Sunday, ABC’s Lateline, 7:30 report and Q@A. He has also appeared internationally on Al Jazeera English.
He has also performed comedy, having been a dual state finalist in Australia’s biggest amateur comedy contest- RAW. He has co-hosted a prime-time gameshow.
He was chosen by a PM’s committee as one of a hundred future leaders of Australia and twice as one of 50 “young men of influence” by a popular men’s magazine.
